ARKnet Board Elections Announced
(July 15, 2005)
Election results for expiring terms in the ARKnet Board of Directors
have been announced. The following people have been elected to new
three-year terms:
- Tom Hart, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
- Jeannie Winston, University of Arkansas at Little Rock
- Mark Barton, Rich Mountain Community College
- Bill Phelps, Ouachita Baptist University
- Peggy Morrison, Hendrix College
- Art Lichtenstein, University of Central Arkansas
ARKnet Technical Symposium Announced
(April 5, 2005)
The next ARKnet Technical Symposium is scheduled for April 21, 2005,
10:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the University of Arkansas System Office
in Little Rock. Sessions on security best practices and strategies,
bandwidth management devices, and key national and state level projects
to build optical networks are scheduled. All ARKnet members are
invited to attend.

The ARKnet Board of Directors will meet at the University of Arkansas
System Office in Little Rock on April 21, 2004, at 8:30 A.M.
before the ARKnet Technical Symposium.

The ARKnet Board of Directors will meet at the University of Arkansas
Cooperative Extension Services on June 24, 2004, at 8:30 A.M.
before the ARKnet Symposium.
ARKnet Symposium Announced
(June 8, 2004)
The 2004 ARKnet Symposium, a one-day meeting of the ARKnet membership
held in lieu of the usual two-day annual conference, will be held on
June 24, 2004, 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. A morning session featuring
the Chief Security Officer for the State of Arkansas and
the Director of the Department of Information Systems will provide an
update on the State Security Office and DIS. Afternoon breakout sessions are
scheduled for both the technical and library representatives, plus the
annual ARKnet membership meeting will be held at which final nominations
for positions on the Board of Directors will be accepted.

ARKnet Board of Directors Meeting Announced
(March 4, 2004)
The ARKnet Board of Directors will meet at the University of Arkansas Systems
Office on March 4, 2004, at 1:30 P.M. immediately following the ARKnet
Technical Symposium. Doug Elkins, Director of DIS, will be present at
the meeting.
ARKnet Technical Symposium Announced
(March 4, 2004)
The second ARKnet Technical Symposium will be held on March 4, 2004,
10:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the University of Arkansas Systems Office
in Little Rock. Topics for discussion at this meeting include
bandwidth management/monitoring and spam detection/filtering.
All ARKnet members are invited to send technical support staff to

ARKnet Technical Symposium Announced
(October 2, 2003)
- ARKnet is announcing its first ever ARKnet Technical Sympsosium,
a new series of meetings that will provide a forum for
the exchange of technical information between ARKnet
members. The first symposium will be held November 7, 2003,
10:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the University of Arkansas Systems
Office in Little Rock.

ARKnet Board of Directors Officers Elected
(September 18, 2003)
- Officer elections for the ARKnet Board of Directors were held at the
board meeting on September 18, 2003. The following people were
elected to one-year terms as officers:
- Chair:
Merrell Shoptaw (Arkansas Tech University)
- Vice-Chair:
Nina Boston (UA Cooperative Extension Service)
- Treasurer:
Bill Phelps (Ouachita Baptist University)
- Secretary:
Larry Glover (William F. Laman Public Library)
- Jeannie Winston (University of Arkansas at Little Rock) was
appointed to replace Rogers Davis following his resignation
from the board. Ms. Winston's term will expire June 30, 2004.
ARKnet Board of Directors Elections
(July 22, 2003)

David Merrifield (University of Arkansas, Fayetteville)
was elected as the new President of ARKnet. He replaces
Bob Zimmerman (University of Arkansas,
Fayetteville), who will continue to serve on the board
in the position of Past President.

Terms for three board positions expired June 30, 2003. The
holders of those positions were re-elected to the board by
vote of the ARKnet membership. These positions were:
- Public Four-Year College, Position #1:
Merrell Shoptaw (Arkansas Tech University)
- Public Four-Year College, Position #2:
Mark Hoeting (Arkansas State University)
- Non-Profit Organization:
Nina Boston (UA Cooperative Extension Service)

Rogers Davis (University of Arkansas at Little Rock)
resigned his board position effective July 1, 2003.
The position is currently unfilled.
ARKnet Board of Director positions are held for three years. The new
terms expire on June 30, 2006.
