Application for Membership

Membership in the ARKnet confederation is by approval of the ARKnet Board of Directors. To apply for membership, send a letter on your organization's letterhead to the President or Chair of the ARKnet Board requesting membership.

Board Approval

After receipt of the application letter, the President or Chair will solicit a vote of the Board of Directors for approval of the application. Upon approval, the President or Chair will inform the requesting institution of its decision.

Internet Connection

Following acceptance by the Board of Directors, you may acquire a dedicated Internet connection for your organization through the state network. To do so, contact Diane Brooks, Arkansas Department of Information Systems (501-682-4015, diane.brooks@mail.state.ar.us). Options for connection vary from 56K/384K/T1 frame relay to multiple T1s to OC-3 ATM.

Financial Obligations

Applicants must accept all financial obligations for membership, telecommunications, equipment, and installation costs. The DIS Network Operations Center can work with the institution to produce a recommended network configuration and costs. ARKnet members are invoiced for Internet service directly by DIS either annually or monthly at their option.
