ARKnet Symposium, June 24, 2004

ARKnet is announcing the 2004 ARKnet Symposium. This is a one-day meeting of the ARKnet membership that is being held in lieu of the regular ARKnet annual conference. The Symposium will have both a management and a technical focus, with a session featuring the Chief Security Officer for the State of Arkansas as well as the Director of the Department of Information Systems, and breakout sessions for the technical and library representatives.

All ARKnet members are encouraged to send their Institutional Representative, Technical Representative, Library Representative, and others who might benefit from hearing and participating in the symposium sessions.

The Symposium will be held on June 24, 2004, at the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Services campus, located at 2301 South University, Little Rock. You can reach the campus by turning south off I-630 onto South University Avenue and traveling south for about one mile. The campus is on the east side of the street about one block north of the UALR campus. Click here for a map to the campus.

Nominations for Board of Directors

The Membership Meeting at 2:00pm is the annual meeting of the ARKnet membership per the ARKnet bylaws. A number of terms for positions on the Board of Directors expire June 30, 2004. Final nominations for these positions will be accepted at the member meeting. Every ARKnet member institution has a right to submit their Institutional Representative for election to the Board according to the category in which their institution is classified. The positions up for election this term are:

• Public Four-Year College, Position 3
    - Currently held by Tom Hart, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
• Public Four-Year College, Position 4
    - Currently held by Jeannie Winston, University of Arkansas at Little Rock
• Public Two-Year College, Position 2
    - Currently held by Mark Barton, Rich Mountain Community College
• Private College
    - Currently held by Bill Phelps, Ouachita Baptist University
• Academic Library
    - Currently held by Peggy Morrison, Hendrix College
• At Large, Position 2
    - Currently held by Steve Baber, Harding University
